Catriona Andrews uses simple, elegant structure overlaid with naturalistic planting to create distinctive gardens. Ideas exploring design, contemporary concepts, native plant communities and sustainable practices are combined to create spaces sensitive to the ecology of each site and its relationship to the wider landscape.
The practice has a broad scope and includes urban courtyards, country gardens, community spaces, horticultural installations and public planting schemes. Designs are developed through an understanding of the character of the site, investigating the biodiversity of the environment, considering locally distinctive materials and interpreting these through the client’s vision. Each design is a synthesis of form, texture, scent and movement, culture and the natural world to create a richly layered, sensory whole.
